51 years of listening to Lata Mangeshkar’s melodious “ Aye mere watanke logo, jaraa ankhmein bharlo pani….” brings tears to the eyes of every patriotic Indian. Not mine anymore! Instead,my blood boils! A nation as strong as ours with an army dedicated & committed like ours, why do we have to come to a situation of extreme misery? 1962 & now, each time, aren’t we giving in to Chinese aggression? Are we as a political class not capable of delivering better respect to our soldiers &our motherland?
In 1948, independent India’s first Prime minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru gifted Coco Island of the Andaman & Nicober group of Islands to Burma only in turn to be gifted to China by the Burmese. That’s the only island in the Bay of Bengal that is in China’s possession since then, which makes them strategically present in our seas. Absolute Lack of political vision, failed diplomacy, inept warfare strategy coupled with misperception of the nation’s internal security & lack of knowledge of India’s strategic land holdings, Pt. Nehru’s abysmal leadership led to the shameful debacle of  1962. It gave us wounds, which have not been able to be healed in over 50years. Pt. Nehru almost gave away half of North-East as he announced in the All India Radio, “my heart goes out to the people of Assam”. I shudder to even think how the people of North-east would have felt to see their Prime Minister so helpless! How could have the common people, anyway withstood an aggressive Chinese attack when their own Prime Minister had failed them?
What started during Pt. Nehru’s Prime Ministership not only has had a far reaching effect in beating the morale of the armed forces, but also sown the seeds of social discrimination of the Indian society at large. A few drops of tears can never redeem him off the blunders after blunders he committed. His legacy continued and it was in the 80s decade under congress rule, that the Maoist activities in the infamous red corridor from Pashupati to Tirupati flourished to gain mammoth prominence in India. Maoist movement only got bigger & bigger not only in India but also in neighbouring Nepal till 2008 when they finally formed a pro-Maoist government abolishing the Nepal Kingdom, which was the only Hindu nation left in the world.
If it was for me I’d not let such a song be ever written for my soldiersor for my countrymen. They deserve respect, dignity, pride & may be tears of joy, definitely not of sorrow! If we could give the nation the pride of victory as lately as Kargil i.e. 1999, why can’t we anymore?  A great nation such as India with one of the world’s largest & most capable armies never deserved a fate like 1962. Neither should we have to cow down & work out settlements every time Chinese aggressors move inches forward in our land.
Finally, it all boils down to one question. The question is: do we have the political will to do it? I’m sure we don’t, at least under the current weak, spineless leadership of Congress. We as a nation deserve dignity, pride & that can come only and only with strong decisive leadership. While I pay my tribute to Pradeepji for such heart wrenching composition & Lataji for her melodious rendition of “Aye mere watanke logo, jaraa ankhmein bharlo pani” which is etched in our memory & every time reminds us of how our braves were lost, let’s make a resolve. A resolve, a commitment that we will do all it takes to ensure that our motherland will never ever have to face such a shameful debacle as Sino-Indian 1962 war. I appeal to all of you.  Join me in leaving no stone unturned in bringing a decisive strong leader to lead our nation in 2014. Jai Hind!

I beg to disagree with your first comment, Vinit bhai. This song still brings tears to my eyes. Not just for the martyrdom of our brave soldiers but also because of the way our soldiers are still allowed to die. Due to apathy, corruption, red tapism and faulty foreign policy of our successive governments. Bofors was just a tip of the iceberg where money exchanged hands illegaly. Faulty foreign policy resulted in surrendering of strategic land areas to our hostile neighbours. A country born out of our interference had the balls to catch our soldiers and kill them brutally and our Government of the day meekingly just condemned the dastardly act. Our soldiers' heads are cut across the border. Our soldiers are not given food and leave to their convenience. Joining the forces is not seen as an act of valour or a job of pride anymore. The government has time and again used yhe forces for controlling riots caused by the political parties just for their narrow benefits. Many a times cross border firing is envouraged to divert public attention from government's failures. And the soldiers keep dying. The government condemns. And the All India Radio plays yet again - Ae mere watan ke logon......
Its high time we enforce a change in governance. We need a leader who knows what is a struggle. The one whois not brought up surrounded by black cat commandoes but the one who has seen it and faced it all. A true leader. Who knows how to mend fences and also who knows how to save borders. Who can use bricks for making bridges as also as reply to a stone thrown from across the border. We need a leader with the qualities od a soldier. Disciplined. Progressive. Grown up and mature.

Jai Hind Vinit JI,
you had described the true feeling of a patriotic Indian. I completely agree with you that we don't need a feeling of sorrow, Instead we need a feeling of achievement like Kargil & we need to create a Congress mukt Bharat for getting that feeling. we are already working on this agenda & credit goes to IAC Movement by Anna Ji which made us feel that we can do it.

Whenever we hear “Ae mere vatan ke logo”.. Everyone start talking about Pandit Nehru & his tears..
Let me bring some facts into light..
Pandit Jawarhalal Nehru - A man who didn't allow army official to wear their uniform in secretariat because he lived in a delusion of becoming torch bearer of world peace..
A man who each time used All India Radio to bring shame for country either in 1948 or 1962 just to show the world that he is a man of peace.. Do you remember that speech about Assam & Kashmir...??
He ignored the letters written by Sardar Patel to raise the boundary issues with china but all went in vein because of his so called one sided peace process…
Pandit Nehru believed that there will never be any war between India-China.. He gave all the rights India had in Tibet to please china, when china captured Tibet...
BM Kaul.. A coward relative of Pandit Nehru was made lieutenant general for northern command by superseding 12 seniors; who made an excuse to run away from front on the very first day of war with china in 1962.
Our soldier weren't equipped with basic necessities required at height thousands of feet to fight with enemy because Defense Secratory & Friend of Pandit Nehru Mr. Menon thought that there is no need for it, Yet our soldier fought for the pride of nation & gave their life for us..

And we just talk about Pandit Nehru & his so called tears..

Instead of this let’s use this memory & pain to make a promise to ourselves that we will bring a strong leadership for our nation this year so that we will never lose our brothers in wars or by act of cwardness shown by our enemies in past years.. Make a promise to ourselves that we will bring a leadership to our country which makes our country that much stronger that one should think thousand time before firing a single bullet at & within our national boundary…

Jai Hind…

Vinit ji, this song by Lata di has immortalized the sacrifices made by our security forces & captured the imagination of all patriotic Indians. So, Lata di & Pradeep ji, the composer deserve all credit for its rendition. The irritable spot in this is the constant propaganda by Congress to derive unnecessary & unjust mileage by reminding countrymen about Pt.Nehru's tears on hearing this song. On the contrary, Pt. Nehru & Congress should feel mighty ashamed of the facts that resulted in its composition. This song should instill echoes of patriotism amongst all Indians, especially for all those in the corridors of power or those vying for it. It's pertinent to add here that only a truly Nationalist regime at the Centre would be able to bring about this much needed change in the mindsets over a period of time. That's why the clarion call by Sh. Nareendra Modi of a Congress-mukt Bharat is resonating throughout the country today. Wish & pray that it becomes a reality in May 2014 to enable India regain its prideful place in the comity of nations and become a truly sovereign, stronger, & a self-reliant nation.

Bt I think instead we should more deal with other policy issues rather the emotional ones......
Anyway its a good write up....
I would say you should write more often on other trade/bussiness policies.....
